Reality Store on Tuesday, March 27th at Oak View Elementary in High Point

March 22, 2012

If you are interested in a simple and low cost way to teach students how things work in the real world, look no further than the Reality Store program taking place Tuesday, March 27th at Oak View Elementary in High Point from 8:30am-11:30am.

Students upon entering their slightly revamped school gym are assigned salaries along with adult identities that range from married with no children to single with up to four children.

From there, students have to budget accordingly based on their income for housing, groceries, clothing, transportation, and more.

One parent complimented the program for having taught her daughter in one morning what she had been trying to convey for years.

This program was developed by the Business Womens Professional Association (BPW) and has been used to teach young people across the United States from high schools all the way to girl scout troops.
